Published by admin at 4:27 pm under finger lakes wines

This family owned vineyard was established after high school sweet hearts, Art and Joyce Hunt, moved to the Hunt family farm in 1973. After a few years of research and planning a small-scale winery, the Finger Lakes Wine Cellar was started in 1981. With the personal guidance of the Hunt’s, this small winery flourished and in 1987 they formed Hunt Country Vineyards.

The first national recognition was for their Vidal Blanc Ice Wine in the 1990”s. Of the three children of these wine masters one has joined in the family business. This makes six generations of farming this same soil. With a degree from Cornell and internships in California and New Zealand, his contribution is having a positive influence in the family business.

With over 60 major awards, this once small vineyard truly deserves recognition of the wine industry. Wines available for purchase are a Merlot, Meritage, Cabernet Franc, Alchemy, Classic Red, Hunter’s Red, Dry Riesling, Seyval Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Semi-Dry Riesling, Cayuga White, Vignoles, Chardonnay Champagne, Cream Sherry, Ruby Port, Late Harvest Vignoles and Vidal Blanc Ice Wine.

A unique set of wines also produced is the Vegan Friendly brands of Foxy Lady White, Blush and Red. All of these wines are produced and guaranteed to be 100% animal friendly. There is no animal products or derived agent involved with the creation of these wines.

With a year round tasting room open at the family farm, a homely touch will make all visitors experience a welcome feeling. For those to far way to uncork at the winery the ordering of wines online is available 24/7. Be sure either way to enjoy the New York State ice wine of the Vidal Blanc from Hunter Country.
