To uncork New York at the oldest winery on Cayuga Lake then you must visit the Lucas Vineyards. This family owned establishment was founded in the early 1970”s. The nautical theme of the wine labels and names are from the influence of one of the founder’s previous occupation as a New York City tugboat captain.

With Tug Boat Red, Tug Boat White, and Dry Dock named wines help kept revenue coming in during the early days. Today things have changed, not only are there seven nautical wines but medal winning wines like Methode Champenoise Champagnes. In 2008 alone this winery was the recipient of 67 medals from 12 separate competitions.

Available either thru online wine orders or at the winery are six dry white wines including Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Seyval Blanc, Blues, Dry Riesling and Miss Chevious. For red wines, the selection is Tug Boat Red, Dry Dock, Cabernet Franc Reserve, Syrah Reserve and Pinot Noir Reserve. One sparkling wine is available Extra Dry Champagne.

For those that enjoy Semi-Dry to sweet whites and Blushes there are Mistletoe Magic, Cayuga White, Captain Belle, Semi Dry Riesling, Tug Boat White, Harbor Moon, Vignoles and Butterfly.

When making a purchase online thru their web site, all personal information is safe because of the SSL encryption and security measures employed by this establishment. For orders of 12 bottles or more there is a 15% discount.

The tasting room is open year round. The winery has open hours from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday thru Saturday, noon to 5:00 pm on Sundays in the months of November to February. From March through October the open hours are extended each day till 5:30PM.

To uncork NY wine in its finest nautical sense, the Lucas Vineyards has the history everyone can enjoy.
