Atwater Estate Vineyards

Ted Marks established Atwater Estate Vineyards in 1999. The vineyard was already established in the 1970’s and had changed hands from Bill Moffitt to Ed and Joanne Grow. The Grows operated the vineyard and winery under the label Rolling Vineyards until its closure in 1991. The vineyards were still cultivated and sold to surrounding wineries being purchased by Ted Marks.

Since the beginning, this vineyard has produced consistently clean wines with a limited harvest. With an average production of 8,500 cases a year careful attention to quality is maintained vintage after vintage.

To uncork an Atwater wine at the tasting room is a relaxing experience. This experience is enhanced with the scenic view of Seneca Lake before you. This proximity to this deep-water lake and its microclimate is why the vineyards produce such a quality fruit that has lasted for decades now. The selection of wines include Cabernet Franc, Estate Red, Meritage, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Dry Riesling, Estate White, Gewurztraminer, Semi-Dry Riesling, Vidal Blanc, Banana Belt White, Red and Blush, Celsius Chardonnay, and Cuvee Brut. All of these great wines may be purchased online as well.

The Banana Belt series of wines are made from unique grapes grown only in the warmer area associated with these southeastern slopes of the lake.

Another feature of this vineyard is the sustainable practices engaged in the cultivation of the fruit. With contour farming techniques employed along with permanent sod between the rows to help naturally keep disease down and quality up.  All grape waste is composted and spread on the vineyards each year.

This is a Green vineyard to uncork New York wines and enjoy.
